The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the federal agency responsible for running federal health insurance programs, including Medicaid, and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

MEDICAID and Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT): EPSDT, Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment service, is Medicaid's comprehensive and preventive child health program for individuals under the age of 21. EPSDT includes periodic screening, vision, dental, and hearing services.
